Behaviour sticks when it runs on rails.
But rails don’t care if it’s a good route or a bad one.
Weak habits fade.
Strong bad ones power on, even when they’re unhelpful.
Think:
Reaching for your phone before your eyes are open (a bad habit that's locked in)
vs
Intending to go for a run, you sit down for a minute. The rest is Netflix history. (a good habit that's not locked at all)
“Do they do it without thinking, or forget unless they’re reminded?”
If it needs a calendar ping, it’s not yet a habit.
If it happens mid-yawn, it is a habit… whether it's helpful or not.
